Posture Support Vest
A posture support vest is not really a vest as most people understand it - it's more an elasticated bracing device that goes over the shoulders, under the arms and around the torso. It's worn discreetly under clothes and gently pulls the wearer's shoulders back to help keep the thoracic spine correctly aligned.

This in turn eases the strain on the wearer's back and neck and also helps the wearer walk in a more upright way.

A posture support vest is not typically worn permanently - it's thought that wearing one for as little as one hour a day will, over a period of time, train the back muscles and, consequently, the spine to adopt a corrected alignment naturally.

Typically, people will wear a posture support vest for one of two reasons:

1. To look better for a specific occasion or event or for a psychological boost - for example to look and feel more confident at a job interview or perhaps to look their best at a family wedding (after all, wedding photos hand around a long, long time!)  Some people will even wear a posture support vest when they have an important meeting to attend at work because, as the saying goes, first impressions count - so why not project the most positive image possible?

2. Other people will use a posture support vest specifically to help train themselves to have a better posture, as an alternative to a postural exercise program. One thing that appeals to many people is that they have total flexibility to wear the device any time that suits them, whether walking, exercising, working or just doing household chores.

Posture support vests come in various styles and sizes and some include unique design elements such as magnets to add magnetic pain relief therapy at the same time as improving posture.

Main benefits of a posture support vest:

  • Quick fix. Starts working immediately without any instruction necessary for the wearer.
  • One-off cost, as opposed to ongoing cost of signing up to exercise classes or high cost of visiting Osteopath/Chiropractor.
  • Improves the wearer's confidence as well as posture.
  • Risk free - will not harm the wearer.
  • Flexibility - a posture support vest can be worn whenever, wherever and for however long it suits the wearer.
