What is the definition of posture?

Simply put, posture is the the way the body, including the limbs, is carried (or aligned), from the head all the way down through the neck and the spine.

Why is posture so important?

The body's natural alignment does not ordinarily put unnecessary stress on the spine or the neck but, through a number of different causes, the natural state often becomes misaligned and the first evidence most people have of this is when they start to feel unexplained back pain or neck pain.

How does modern lifestyle affect posture?

Think about being hunched over a desk at work.... or over a computer console as you take on the the kids at their favorite game and you'll start to understand.  In fact, consider your position right now - chances are you're hunched forward over a laptop or computer keyboard. Then, of course, there's 'couch-slouch'.  There are many ways modern lifestyle affects posture, but it can be improved with a little self awareness.
